Nevada Dems Wuss Out…

by Patrick Ruffini :: March 9th, 2007 9:49 pm

…and the Spite Your Face Caucus is born.

The Nevada Democratic Party debate will no longer be sponsored by Fox News, after nutroots pressure culminated in John Edwards and then Bill Richardson pulling out of the debate.

I know I’m not supposed to admit this, but “fair and balanced” aside I do think Fox News leans right, as CNN leans left. Let’s just be honest about it and adopt the brutally honest British model of press partisanship.

My next point to the Dems is this: So what? The New Hampshire Republican Party accepted CNN as the co-sponsor of their April debate — despite the network’s controversial airing of terrorist propaganda videos. As far as I know, no conservative has demanded Republican candidates withdraw from the CNN debate.

If conservatives don’t mind a largely liberal viewership for their debate, why should the opposite be true? Who knows, we might actually convert some of them. Liberals apparently have no similar interest in even talking to conservative red state voters. (And a larger group of them to boot, thanks to Fox News’ dominance in the ratings.)

Will that be their downfall in 2008?

    […] The Spite Your Face Caucus is born. Democrats have tucked tail in Nevada. Terrified of the possibility of meaningful questions and following the lead of the only woman running for president, John Edwards, who withdrew earlier today, all the democrats have refused to participate in a debate co-hosted by FOX News which was to be held in Nevada. This is a wise decision on the part of democrats - who can’t answer real questions. They can only address padded and leading questions on the order of “Can you believe George Bush hasn’t done anything about the greatest threat to mankind, Global Warming, and how do you plan to correct the damage the evil BushHitler has done to our world?”

    Nobody is surprised that the surrender party surrendered.

    The Dems have had it their way for forty-plus years. Their pimp media (Big Nets, CNN, NYTS and WaPo) will not ask them the tough questions.

    The biggests fear I have is that if the Dems control all three branches in ‘09 they will move to control the internet. Their ideas simply do not stand scrutiny, so they duck and weave with the help of the MSM.

    Except that CNN does not slant the news against Republicans in the consistent and systematic way that Fox does. In fact they’re more likely to play pattycake with folks like your Giuliani.

    Will that be their downfall in 2008?

    Easy answer. No.

    The 70-ish average Fox News viewer has already made up his mind. In spite of all the “fair and balanced” baloney, everybody knows what Fox News is all about.

  5. AVoiceofReason says:

    In the long run this will hurt the Dems. Reading on the Edward’s blog site many commented that if they can’t take a forum which may be a bit more Conservative than the DNC positions, how will they expect to govern.

    They report. We decide. The effect of this decision will be somebody’s (temporary?) downfall, but only time and election results will tell.
