perhaps the “magic bullet” didn;t work, but maybe it was the one bullet they had since they punted away the tax issue.

My own take on the Virginia loss is this: Earlier this year I received a fundraising letter from Ed Gillespie asking for money for the Republican Party of Virginia. I googled Ed Gillespie immigration to find out where he stood on immigration. He penned an opinion journal column in support of the 2006 US Senate amnesty plan. Here:

I decided not to give RPV any money because they had as their leader someone who is wrong on immigration. I don’t donate money to Republicans who support amnesty and that includes Republican organizations which are headed by open borders types. I donate directly to Tancredo, Randy Graf, and company.
I am skeptical on the Washington Post article. Who is this “anonymous consultant”? Is it Ed Gillespie whose “firm, Quinn Gillespie & Associates, represents clients who support a temporary guest worker program.” ?
