Is McCain Losing It?
by Patrick Ruffini :: December 29th, 2007 9:10 pmIn 2000, it took till South Carolina and Virginia for the gaffes to start rolling off the assembly line. In the wake of McCain’s “phony” attack, it looks like the pressure may be getting to him.
McCain — asked about Romney’s latest immigration attack in New Hampshire — says “Never get into a wrestling match with a pig. You both get dirty — and the pig likes it.”
And then this:
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful John McCain joked Friday that given his campaign’s ups and downs, he’s shown the stamina of the last man on Earth.
“I’ve been declared dead in this campaign on five or six occasions. I won’t refer to a recent movie I saw, but I think I am legend,” he told reporters, referring to the film in which Will Smith stars as the last man on Earth.
Oy.

The one-liners aren;t the problem, One queries the wisdom of the McCain camp using a liberal news columm to label Mitt a “phony” when they had film clips of his own words which were far more effective in making the case
That’s an unforced error and speaks to campaign competence, not personal temperament

In watching the back and forth between Romney and McCain over the last week, Romney hits with issues of policy that he has with McCain, Mitt has yet to attack him personally. While McCain does not refute Mitt’s claims or target Mitt’s policies, he just attacks Mitt as a flip-flopper, phony, and a pig. Mitt is coming out the bigger man in this and NH voters should take note. McCain is acting like a baby.
To basically call a fellow competitor a ‘Pig’ is irresponsible and has no place in the election. Stick to the issues and the differences between the candidates. Besides, if anyone objectively looks at the records of ALL the candidates, they all have flip-flops. McCain on immigration, tax reform, etc. It does not seem that McCain has the mental fortitude necessary to be President.
