Perhaps your concern is warranted in this case, but why on earth are donating by phone in the year 2008?
I’ll be honest, I was going to donate via the internet (as I’d done in the past) but after McCain completely flip-flopped on his housing position, I wanted to call up their campaign and b_tch a little (by definition, anyone who takes out a mortgage that they can only afford if housing prices are going up is an “irresponsible borrower”). So I found that phone number to voice my complaint, and when it came up a full mailbox I just shook my head. I fully agree that McCain is better ideologically than Obama but, as a businessman myself, his organizational/managerial incompetence has me worried.
I’m a [lukewarm] McCain supporter. Today I went to his website to donate (https://www.johnmccain.com/Contribute/ContributeB.aspx), and I called the phone # at the bottom to see if possible to donate by phone. After ringing 9 or 10 times, I got an automated message, “The voicemail you are calling is full”.
His campaign is so ramshackle, I really have questions about whether he’s equipped to manage the Executive branch. That, plus his cave on a housing bailout today have me very depressed about the whole election.
